Maintenance i-Sails
We made your sails with the best cloth available for the application,
and we manufactured and finished them to exacting standards - the following
maintenance advice will let you maximize their life span, and
the fun and pleasure you get out of them... this is particularly important
for
the "Performance
Series" sails, whose cloth provides the best available performance for
top racers...
Do not rig on sand, or other abrasive surfaces, such as parking lot
blacktop - this will lengthen the lisp of the seams .
Do not let your sails flap in the wind any longer than necessary to rig...
Do not let your sails flap in the wind any longer than necessary to
de-rig... :-)
Rinse your sails, if your sailed at a saltwater venue
Remove or de-tension the battens, to remove tension from the elastic
and/or
cloth
Let your sails dry - without flapping -, before putting
them away
Roll them up rather than fold them, and if you must fold them, do
so lightly, and do not always fold them in the same location, to avoid
large creases- for Laser®* sails, use your mast top as a guide to roll
your sail!
if you need to clean up some spots, use soapy water and brush - no
chemicals or harsh abrasive products.
Store your sails in a dry, well ventilated location- avoid very high
temperatures (in a car, under a boat cover) or very low temperatures:
this will prolong the life of the sail finishes and plastic
parts, such as sail windows, batten elastics, straps, buckles, leech
line cleats etc.
